U Prep Schools is proud to celebrate a major investment in scholar-led innovation.

University Prep Academy High School (UPA HS) and University Prep Art & Design High School (UPAD HS) have each been awarded $30,000 through Grand Valley State University’s Impact 30 Grant, supporting hands-on, student-centered learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

At UPA High School, grant funding will support the construction of a greenhouse where scholars will grow vegetables, flowers, and plants while engaging in real-world, project-based learning connected to sustainability, science, and community wellness.

At UPAD High School, funding will strengthen the school’s Design Collaborative, a signature program that partners scholars with professional artists to lead placemaking projects. These projects amplify student voice, reinforce creative confidence, and contribute to a vibrant school culture rooted in design and self-expression.

The GVSU Impact 30 Grant celebrates 30 years of partnership with Michigan’s charter public schools by investing in innovative programs that create lasting impact for students and communities.

We are grateful to all U Prep schools that applied and proud of our scholars for continuing to pursue opportunities that turn ideas into action.

Thank you to GVSU for believing in our students and their vision.
