Taran Sherman, a proud alumnus of University Prep Science & Math High School's Class of 2020, is currently on the path to achieving his dreams as he pursues a degree in Business Administration at Bowling Green State University. His journey reflects the profound influence U Prep has on shaping its students’ futures, from supportive beginnings to ambitious goals.
Taran’s connection to U Prep was deeply rooted in family. His mother, a dedicated teacher at UPSM, fell in love with the school and community long before Taran enrolled. She encouraged him to join UPSM in his junior year, knowing it would provide him with a nurturing and inclusive environment. That decision quickly became meaningful, as Taran recalls, “Even as a new student, my teachers and classmates made me feel like I had been there my whole life.”
Among his fondest memories at U Prep, Taran highlights organizing the Big Brother/Big Sister Program, a youth mentorship initiative he’s particularly passionate about. This experience exemplifies his commitment to leadership and making a positive impact on those around him. The family-oriented culture and support he found at U Prep became a cornerstone of his high school years, fostering lifelong connections and a deep sense of belonging.
The skills and experiences Taran gained at U Prep provided a solid foundation for college and beyond. Through U Prep, he learned to balance academic demands with social engagement, which proved essential as he transitioned to college life at Bowling Green. U Prep’s emphasis on community, collaboration, and resilience has shaped Taran’s aspirations for the future, inspiring him to aim for success in business and entrepreneurship.
Looking ahead, Taran’s goal is to become a successful entrepreneur, carrying forward the lessons and values he cultivated during his time at U Prep. His journey exemplifies how U Prep empowers its alumni to pursue their dreams, building a legacy of success, resilience, and leadership in its graduates.
