University Prep Academy High School – Ed Parks Campus is leveling up and continues to raise the bar for innovation in Detroit education. Building on recent grant investments that expanded and strengthened the school’s library resources, UPA High School has now been awarded a $75,000 Pathway to Possibilities grant from the Detroit Children’s Fund to create a scholar-inspired Makerspace STEM Lab within the library.

This expansion transforms the library into a dynamic innovation hub where literacy meets technology and creativity meets career readiness. Scholars will gain hands-on access to 3D printing, artificial intelligence experiences, augmented reality development, podcast production, digital storytelling, music production, and digital art and animation.

Designed around scholar voice and real-world application, the Makerspace reflects UPA’s commitment to preparing future-ready leaders equipped for college, careers, and emerging industries.

For families seeking a high school experience that blends academic excellence, innovation, and leadership development, UPA High School continues to be a top choice in Detroit.
