Empowering the Future: UPA & UPAD Scholars Attend Girls of Color Summit
Young leaders from University Prep Academy (UPA) and University Prep Art & Design (UPAD) recently took part in a powerful experience at the Girls of Color Summit hosted by Grand Valley State University.
This special event welcomed 6th–12th grade girls from across Michigan to explore topics like leadership, self-confidence, academic success, and career goals—all in a safe and uplifting space designed especially for them.
Throughout the summit, UPA and UPAD scholars:
- Attended inspiring workshops
- Heard from dynamic women speakers
- Connected with students from other schools
- Engaged in real conversations about identity and success
The goal? To help young women of color see their value, discover their power, and dream big.
By the end of the day, our scholars walked away feeling inspired, encouraged, and ready to lead. They learned that with confidence, community, and courage, they can reach any goal they set their minds to.
We are proud of our UPrep scholars who represented our community with excellence. Events like the Girls of Color Summit remind us that representation and mentorship matter—and the future is brighter when every young woman knows she belongs.
