U Prep’s A Team: Ensuring Success Starts with Showing Up
At University Prep Schools, success begins with showing up. Behind every classroom of eager learners is the dedicated ‘A-Team,’ U Prep’s Attendance Team, whose mission is to promote student attendance, support families, and celebrate those who prioritize showing up every day.
Why Attendance Matters
Attendance is the cornerstone of academic achievement. Each day missed is a missed opportunity for lessons, interactions, and personal growth. The A-Team works tirelessly to cultivate a culture where attendance is celebrated and barriers to participation are addressed.
Their efforts include district-wide attendance tracking, family outreach, and connecting families with resources. These actions ensure every scholar has the support they need to stay present and engaged.
Supporting Families, Building Connections
The A-Team does more than monitor attendance; they build meaningful relationships. From phone calls and home visits to resource connections, they ensure that families feel supported. This personal approach has been a critical factor in fostering trust and engagement throughout the U Prep community.
Celebrating Attendance Success
U Prep also emphasizes recognition and rewards for those excelling in attendance:
- School Recognition: Each month, the school with the highest attendance rate earns the U Prep Attendance Plaque. UPSM Middle School won both September and October, highlighting teamwork and commitment.
- Student Incentives: Students with 95% or higher attendance are entered into quarterly raffles for exciting prizes. In October, grand prize winners received a Family 4-Pack of Universal Soul Circus tickets, Apple AirPods, and a 42” Smart TV.
Fostering a Culture of Belonging
The A Team’s efforts go beyond boosting numbers—they foster a culture where every scholar and family feels valued. Through encouragement, celebration, and addressing challenges, they remind us all that success starts with showing up. With their continued dedication, the possibilities for U Prep scholars are endless.
