As we close out Women’s History Month and look ahead to April, we are proud to launch our Leaders Who Inspire U series—starting with Chief Academic Officer Djeneba (DJ) Cherif.

Women’s History Month is not only a time to honor the past, but also to celebrate the leaders shaping the future. At University Prep Schools, this impact is seen every day through the dedication, vision, and leadership of our school leaders—who create supportive, high-achieving learning environments for our scholars across UPA, UPAD, and UPSM.

Honoring Today's Education Leaders

Across our schools, these leaders foster a culture where scholars are empowered to grow, lead, and succeed. At the forefront is DJ Cherif, who leads our network's academic, curriculum, and instructional work across all three districts.

Who is DJ Cherif?

As Chief Academic Officer, DJ ensures every scholar receives a rigorous, culturally responsive education that prepares them for college and career success. Representation matters. When scholars see leaders guiding with vision and purpose, they understand that leadership has no limits.

Empowered Women Empower Women

DJ’s impact extends beyond academics. She develops teacher and school leaders, strengthens instructional practices, and cultivates the next generation of educators. Her leadership helps create a network where scholars, teachers, and staff are supported, challenged, and inspired.

While March may be ending, our celebration continues. Stay tuned for the upcoming principal spotlight videos—highlighting the leaders who bring our mission to life and inspire our scholars daily.
