U Prep is proud to operate three health clinics within our network as of 2024. These clinics offer our families no-cost services comparable to those provided by a primary care physician.
The services that each provide are:
- Physicals/Health Assessments
- Immunizations
- Behavioral Health Services
- Sick Visits
- Primary Care Prevention
- Health Education
The necessity for in-school clinics arises from the fact that all ten of our campuses are located in Detroit and Wayne County, one of Michigan's most medically underserved areas. By establishing these clinics, we aim to bridge the healthcare gap and offer accessible healthcare to families with children up to age 21 across the U Prep Schools community.
This initiative helps reduce healthcare disparities and ensures consistent, high-quality care. Additionally, it enables parents to take less time off work for medical appointments, resulting in fewer school absences for our scholars.
Acknowledging Our Valued Partners
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners who have made the U Prep school-based health clinics possible:
The Carl’s Foundation, Ascension Health Services, and Henry Ford Health System School-Based and Community Health Program.
